If someone explains to me how it's been decided this thing should work (I'm too lazy to read through 130 posts in the other thread), I'll sign up. I'm also planning to head over to New Zealand in the latter part of next year for a tour, so I might be able to pass on whatever we're passing on over there.

AT the moment all I am doing is taking it to the next step, pass the " I am here and can ride to there" bit. just logging down who is where so we can see what the map looks like, I guess joining the dots and you got a route. Where it starts and where it ends is open to disscussion, some one mentioned it should end at at Joe Gardner's house. I think thats a fitting tribute. To read through all the post then putting the info together is time consuming, easier if I get PM with all the revelent info at once so I can copy & paste it into a spread sheet.

This list makes a US tour look quasi-possible, but a WORLD tour. that Aussie rider looks to have bit of a tough leg.
I see a bit of a problem with trying to include all of the registrants.
Instead of trying to map out a route based on rider availability, simplify.
The Official starting rider(Joe) would head out with the BF'chain-letter', in a waterbottle, to meet a predetermined ,(by the current bottleholder), recipient, who would then contact the next rider and arrange a transferr that works for both of them. No real schedule or direction just a "tour" with a loose agenda. Then we'll just use the fourms to track where the "message in a bottle' is at any give time.
Less logistics, all loosy goosey n free flowing, what do ya think?

Yeah I think that is the way to go, freeflowing, the only co-ordination has to be between the drop off & the pick up, suited to both party concerned as in time & place, as for the bit where you have many riders, in the same area eg CA then I guess we would see if a group ride is possible to the drop off point or we get each rider involved in taking the item around CA before it goes to the next drop off point. All this I guess is up for discussion between the riders registered in that particular area. I also think that finishing at Joe is fitting but what about the start, maybee we could kick off with Twin Traveller as it was his idea to start with, just a thought....

Hello all,
No this thread is still live & kicking. I had to Format both my computers, re-install everything, including all files for my business, and then I went on a ski holiday from which I have just returned. Give me a couple of days and all will be back on track.

Thanks
joe

Well its got to start in the US, someone started on this but I dont think it got going, I did send PM to the next guy who signed up but no joy, the idea was a water bottle with a paper for all riders to sign, which I thought was cool. I will try again....

Yes, the last time Joe Longhair posted was early 2008. This particular thread never got off the ground.

Ach, too bad. (The original thread really shouldn't still be a sticky.)

I think this may have been too ambitious. Perhaps a US east coast relay?

Edit: Take a look at the original thread; I wasn't the first to zombify it. (That thread led me here, where I failed to notice the dates.) This thing won't quite die. Dare one hope?

It isn't a sticky. You dug it up from ..... somewhere in the depth of ancient threads.
