Frame-paint question

I have a 6 month old aluminum Fuji road bike (flat bar) and also (had) a 2003 aluminum frame Specialized Expedition (recently sold). These bikes don't/didn't seem to hold their paint as well as my 10 year old CrMo Bridgestone. I keep my bikes indoors and take pretty good care of them. The Fuji purple color is fading to a not so attractive lighter color and tiny specks of paint are missing in a couple of places. The other aluminum framed bike, the Expedition, seemed to "scratch" quite easily. I'm wondering if others have found that CrMo frames hold their paint better than aluminum. Maybe I've simply had a bit of bad luck with my two alum bikes?
