How do you neatly store cycling gear?

I'm in the process of renovating a back room which is where I keep my bike and gear. Right now the bike leans on a wall and I keep all the gear on top of a spare desk. This includes clothes so I can dress early mornings and not wake my wife. I'm looking for cheap ideas to incorporate into the remodel for storing all this stuff in a neat, attractive and easily accessible way. This includes:

shorts/bibs
jerseys
road shoes
touring shoes
socks
gloves
Road ID
helmet
heart monitor strap/watch
various performance/nutrition bars, tablets, gels, etc.

I'd like something wherein the bike hangs but not high up, really just a few inches off the ground. I've seen the wire rack type of gear organizers but don't like them. Just plain ugly to me.

Feel free to post pics of your solution!

Garage??! Not for my baby!! :) I keep her in the house where I can look at her constantly.
The dresser is an idea but I would like something sporty and not regular furniture-like. Thanks tho!!

Those are great for hanging the bike but doesn't address to gear storage issue. I saw this one online but don't like it's totally utilitarian look:

I got this bench and hat rack/shelf unit from Ikea. Two views, from two different apartments:

Those models are no longer sold, but they have a couple of nice units that are similar. I think I like the newer hat rack/shelf thingy better than the one I own. But I prefer the bench I have with all the cubbies.

I have a shelf with row of hooks on the wall and a coat tree.

Plastic tubs with lids.. they stack too ..

you can find many sorts of bike storage racks. wall leaners , freestanding ,
and hooks set in the wall or ceiling.

I LOVE this solution!!! Except for the bike storage which I could figure out once I had the units set up, but this gives me a great idea on how to build one myself. Perfect for what I was looking for!!! Thanks!!!

Bike storage too? Why didn't you say so? :) Oops. I guess you did. ;)

That's a rack by Delta, which has been discontinued.

These are the locking version of the Saris Bike Trac.

Might want to look at Rubbermaid Fast Track stuff. Pretty cool stuff. Fairly inexpensive for what it does. I find it hard they don't push this stuff more than they do. It is awesome.
