Is this worth buying?

Hey all. I just wanted to get some quick advice. Is this JC Penney 3-speed worth buying? I'm basically just looking for a "back-up" bike to ride back & forth to the train station (1 mile daily) this winter, and I'd add a rack to occassionally haul groceries (less than a mile). Is this decent enough. I don't want to spend more than necessary, I have a brand new Trek hybrid that serves as my "main" bike.

Why not? Looks like a nice clean bike for the money. Make sure the hub is OK and everything works. Negotiate negotiate.

just allow a very long stopping distance with those steel rims, in wet weather .. anticipate stops.

Thanks for the input! Hopefully I'll get it tonight before someone else does.

I hope that you do buy it. This bike will make a nice transportation utility bike.

If the tires are original a new set might be in order for comfort and safety.

^^^This.

A good investment would be a set of KoolStop shoes or whatever the LBS recommends. Especially if it's an older bike. I see the CL listing has been taken down so you must have gotten it!

Someone else got it first. Ah well, I just have to keep looking. :)
