chain rubbing on RD cage/coming off pulley when backpedaling

chain rubbing on RD cage/coming off pulley when backpedaling
anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? the shifting is perfect when riding, no grinding.. but when i backpedal a bit it starts to grind on the derailleur cage and hops off the pulley, eventually causing the chain to hop to a higher gear/slip to a smaller sprocket..
any advice would be cool

well looks like my rear derailleur is shot. the joints are worn. no amount of adjusting could fix it lol.
