A little off-topic but not entirely ...

I wash my cycling clothing in one of those generic sport washes with a little Simple Green mixed in. Works reasonably well and there's not really a lot of funky odors in the clothes before I wash them. It's a different story with my running and hiking/backpacking clothes. For some reason, those get pretty strong BO and nothing I am using today gets it ALL out.

But ... there was a product not too long ago I could find at REI called Win. It wasn't cheap - something like $7 or $8 for maybe a 48-ounce bottle (?) - but it WORKED and I didn't have to use it that often anyway. I mean, I could put the stinkiest thing I had in the washing machine with Win and it would come out with no, zero, nada odor. It went out of production for a while and I can't find it at REI any longer but they do sell it at Amazon although the price has gone up. Might be worth a try.

Amazon also sells something called Sports Suds and another product called Prowash Activewear Detergent. REI now sells Prowash. Does anyone have any experience with either of these two?

the fibers in wool clothing are attatched together differently than other materials. use woolite for wool, that is what it was made for. use detergent for everything else.

I'm surprised nobody has come up with specific washing product for athletic/cycling gear - protects technical fabrics, maintians wicking, does away with funky odours, dissolves chain grease etc.
