there was quite a bit brought up in that post..

the world doesn’t look to the states for bicycle infrastructure and distance/space doesn’t answer or excuse the problem. Americans drive on average 13,000 miles a year, Europeans drive on average 15,000 km per year. Average driving distance doesn’t tell the whole or even part of the story though zoning tells a larger part, America is built on suburbs without any non-car based infrastructure while the burbs are great if you want a house and a small parcel of land they’re not great, and fairly expensive. I’m a rural guy I grew up in rural Florida and live in rural Germany the difference is in my rural 600 family dorf in Germany we have a grocery store, a butcher that has meat produced locally I.e. the farm kitty corner to my house, a bakery, two banks, a doctor, and some light industry everything is rideable and most do. The nearest 100k city he talks about is 45 miles from me but the difference is I don’t need to go there to shop for my basic needs like I’d need to in the states.

When I rotate back to the states next time I do intend on living in the west whether it’s Wyoming (or similar) or Alaska, I also plan on buying a house. We all make choices in life I prefer pickups, and space over convince but what’s cool about here is I can have space , convince, and I can eat/ live naturally whether I hunt or buy local.

It’s all about regulations
