Folding tire question

Hi all,

My Safari has 700 X 46 Vittoria tires. HUGE!

I am thinking of going to a 700 X 42 or 38.

For carrying a spare, are there any tires close to these sizes that are foldable?

Thanks,

Paul

Learn the technique and any steel bead tire can be 1/3 of it's size.. still Round.
people store band-saw blades , by the same manner, fwiw.

Any reason not to go down to a 28-32mm?

I put 26's on a bike that had 37's with no problem.
My rim width is 22mm, which is pretty wide.
I wouldn't go smaller than 26, but I have no qualms with 26.

Still carry spare tires that way, not a huge fan of "foldable" tires, prefer the old school steel wire beads.

the Rivendale sold Jack Brown is a 622-33. those are sold to the performance ,
not touring rider , so they are fast but fragile., Kevlar bead . with a Kbelt , or without.

Michelin HiLight tour were a folding touring tire , 20 years ago.

Google, "folding a bike tire"

click on the SheldonBrown link.
