You just need to ride more and adjust the fit. The fit makes a big difference in how I feel after a ride, but really ride more, even 30 minutes a day will help you feel better riding and even make you want to ride more.

if you haven't ridden since the fall and the temps have changed, I'll bet your tires also have a lot lower pressure unless you pumped them up before you went riding. Give that a look

I'm sorry, ChowChow!
I think the ribbing was due to my kidding around. I didn't mean to cause you any embarrassment... - Slim :( |
Cold air is harder to ride in. On my in bound commute there is a gentle downslope about a km long and road is smooth. During warm weather (above 18 c) - there is a road marker at the top, if I am going 18 kph when I pass it- then if i coast to the bottom - i usually am going 35 or 36 kph. In colder weather (near 0 c), same location - barely top 30 kph at bottom. You can really feel the air density affect when temp goes below 5 c.

That's surprising, but I will easily agree that cold weather doesn't promote easy breathing, and it does take more effort when wearing heavy clothing.

I ride up certain hills without a thought. I used to avoid those hills. You just gots to ride.
