I'm 200 pounds and get down to 185 in season. Having the triple up front would certainly be comforting. I admit though that I'm a little excited about getting my first compact :) I'm still pretty new to all this and I enjoy trying new stuff.
FSA makes the crank set. I've never heard of them. And from what I've read there's kind of a mixed bag of reviews about them. We'll see. The dealer said he'd swap the 11-28 out for an 11-32 at no charge and the more I think about it I don't see a down side to doing that. Remember this is going to end up being a drop bar hybrid road bike if you will. I am going to have them put some Michelin Pilot Sports on it and get the cross tires off, too. Depending on how happy or unhappy I end up with with the crank set, I can swap it out for a triple down the road if needed. I think I could even do that myself which would be kinda fun. I have a couple of service books. Ha! |

To convert from a double crankset to a triple, and make it look "factory", you will need to buy: crankset, bottom bracket, front and rear derailleurs and probably new shifters. That's a lot of stuff. |
