What are the best bike paths near San Fernando Valley?
I've been riding at Ventura/Redondo/Venice beaches because of the heat here in the Valley this Summer. They're all pretty cool. Are there any good ones closer now that the weather's cooling off? No Bicyclists here in the SFV? Thank you

Sepulveda flood control basin. Get off the Ventura Freeway at Balboa and head North. You will see bikepath on both sides of the street. (The East side is much better). The paths wander throughout the park. At the North end it connects to the Orange Line Bike path. Personally I thnik the Orange line path sucks, but there are a couple of nice sections. That path goes both East and West, but it at least used to be such that you might not realize it went West. The one section of this path I had hopes for is just west of the main flood control park area where the old train tracks went through open land. It was about the worst, it was bypassed onto sidewalk. It is possible that in hte last few years that has improved and that it now goes where it should have from the start.
Los Angeles River Bike Path. Been decades since I did that and the section that comes to mind did not exist back then. Try to find the section near Griffith Park.
Oh and in Griffith park there is somethign a bit different. If you start from Traveltown and take the road going up the hill when you get to the high point of the road there is a road with a firegate on the right. It goes all the way to the top and there is another road branching off at the top. All closed to traffic, at least as of a few years ago and it did not look like there were any plans to reopen. One of the few places where a path rider can do some climbing. (and some nice views).

Oh,
Also Hansen Dam rec center.
I think Franklin Resevor has a bike/ped path arround it. If not then Stone Canyon. (unless post 911 paranoia has closed it).
Santa Clarita has a network of paths. I'm pretty sure Bouquet Canyon Trail is a bike path. For most of its length it runs near Newhall Ranch Road.
Pretty sure Simi has bike paths, try the river, I'm all but positive that a path runs in the river rigjht of way.
