Is this cruiser a good value?

Hello all
First post here. A little about me.... i used to use a mountain bike (entry level Marin) for a daily commuter in the city for all seasons. Then for the last few years i have gotten soft and have not biked. The Marin is in rough shape and i am married now. I see a pair of Norco Sekine Cruisers for sale in our city. They are six speed models and appear to have been slightly used. A couple is selling them (not sure why) and are asking $250 for each bike. I have been out of biking for a few years and no nothing about these "new" cruisers. Can anyone shed some light on the quality of the Norco Cruiser and what they might be worth if they are in mint condition and only a couple years old? I have attached a pic in case anyone wants to check it out. |
From the photos, I see(infer) 6speed freewheels, ashtabula bottom brakets, cheapo rear derailers, stamped steel caliper brakes, and possibly plastic brake levers
These bikes are no better than any walmart/target cruiser you can buy for 100$, and you should avoid *mart bikes as they suck. I would skip this sale and take the old Marin to a bike shop for a tune up. |
Thanks for the reply xenologer!

I would give them $125...for the pair. I am not familiar with the Norco brand but those look a lot like the bikes that Target sells for ~$175 today.
