WOW, what an inspiring video.

Never dreamed he would be able to run. Power of the mind is amazing

BlazingPedals 05-07-12 06:50 PM

It's good that he found a way back, but I'm left wondering why he was disabled in the first place. It was obviously nothing permanent. Depression, perhaps?

alexaschwanden 05-07-12 06:59 PM

Impressive.

At the video page I saw where 254 people disliked the video They may have been doctors?

And to add to this amazing story of not giving up

Para Trooper. To many jumps took it's toll on his back and legs.

That's what he said, but obviously it wasn't a permanent disability. He may have been feeling his age; after all, doing that extreme stuff is for kids! A more normal person would have found a less demanding job position and moved on. How he got to being 289 pounds is the part of the story he sort of glossed over.

I feel like a wimp for avoiding hills now. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing; I had not gotten choked up in a while. Very inspiring and a great reminder to persevere.

BTW, for you folks wondering why he was unable to heal or thinking that nothing was all that wrong in the first place you ought to read up about spinal injuries. Better yet, spend some time with people recovering from spinal injuries. Jumping and landing with full gear can lead to VERY serious compression injuries not to mention injuries to the lower extremities. It may not seem like much but these spinal injuries can take a looooooooong time to heal and are excruciatingly painful. I had a VERY minor spinal injury by comparison and it took me nearly a year to be able to bend over. Yoga and swimming were the only things that really helped me recover despite "help" from countless medical specialists. So don't underestimate the long hard road this guy likely had to endure.

Oh, and BTW#2: This is a great reason to support wounded warrior programs so that men and women of service recover faster and never get as bad as this guy did.

Was happy when he walked, shocked when he ran. :D So inspiring.
