Shimano shoes R087 vs M087

R087 features a flat sole with holes for both MTB and Road pedals.
M087 features a sole for offroad with holes only for MTB pedals.

Is there any other difference, like a stiffer sole on the R087, or are they basically the same shoe?

Bikes: Some bikes. Hell, they're all the same, ain't they?

They look exactly the same apart from the soles, with descriptions of both referring to a fiberglass-reinforced midsole.

If they are the same, I would get the ones with the hole options for both road and MTB cleats. That way, if you find that your knees don't like spd's (like my knees), you can get some Speedplay road pedals for maximum float and still mount the cleats on the shoe.
