Proper cycling posture

Hi all,

Is arching the back while riding a harmful posture? I've heard that you're not supposed to arch your back in general but it seems this is how everyone, including the pros ride.

That how I roll. I'm 60, in good shape with no back issues, and a ride with my bars fairly low, tops around 10cm below the top of the saddle. I just ride with what feels natural and that happens to be a somewhat rounded back. Rode 120 mile last Sun without any back issues whatsoever.

Arching which way? When I think about it I arch my back to the rear some. I rarely think about it. When I need to stretch I stand up and arch the other way.

It would depend entirely upon the kind of bicycle you're riding. I should have thought this would be self-evident.

Well now let me see...aching back while riding becoming painful. OH! That's easy!
