N-1 Sadness...........

Up until 2 months ago I have always only had one bicycle at a time. I just recently purchased my second bike and already find myself going back to one bike. Now I suppose its important to say that the bike that is going away is my old bike and is a tad to small for me, but at the same time its the same bike I have been riding for the past three years. The more I think about it the more I find myself sad to see it go as it holds more sentimental value than anything. So I guess this is a farewell to a good bike that got me into cycling. I can only hope that the new owner is going to keep the bike, take care of the bike, and treat it with the respect it deserves.

Why is your old bike too small?...What happened that you ended up with a small bike in the first place?

Its the same bike I have had since I was in 8th grade. Until recently I didn't know that it was too small for me.

i have noticed that many people seem to regret parting ways with their old bikes, even IF they serve no practical purpose... :innocent:

Yes a kid at heart I think I had that bike for about 11 or 12 years. And while that old mtb stopped being my primary bike when I bought my cross bike a few months back I continued to use it as a commuter and as a bike to hook up my daughters tag along bike.

I don't let go of my bikes until they start to fall apart under me. The last one got ridden so much the bottom bracket mount stripped, the front shock was totally shot, the wheels were replaced 3 times, the gear train and pedals had been replaced twice, the frame was lacking a lot of paint but it didn't really matter as it was aluminium with sliver paint anyway. For all its faults it rode smootly until I finally had to replace it with a similar bike and transfer across all the commuting accessories.

I left it at the local LBS and they gave it someone to ride to the market. I don't think its a good idea, but they probably won't ride it as hard and loaded as I did so I wish them luck with it. :)

Well in that case, you're most certainly NOT just a kid! :thumb:

You should keep it for that reason alone. :)

That was the bikes main purpose however I am giving away to an inlaw who is recently homeless in hopes that it helps him get and maintain a job(mostly to keep the wife happy).

Thats the way it should be. I am that way with just about any of my personal things that I truely like.
