Another great Kickstarter for cyclists
I found out about this yesterday and it looks great. They're ear tips for in-ear headphones that have air channels to allow you to hear ambient noise (say, while you're on your bike). I'm really hoping this project gets funded (need $800 by Saturday, as of now) because I want some! It's pretty cheap to back, too, at least as Kickstarters go.

I can still hear ambient noises with my iPhone earbuds. But then again they're not the in-ear type. I've never been able to get comfortable with the in-ear type.

I can't wear the iPhone earbuds, they refuse to stay in my ears. I do end up hearing all the ambient noise though

Most earbuds and other in-ear earphones let in plenty of ambient sound. The problem with them is that they increase the noise of the wind passing over your ears if you're traveling at any kind of speed. The only type that I've tried that don't greatly increase wind noise are the type that seal the ear channel. These also greatly attenuate ambient sounds, similar to wearing foam earplugs. Personally, I don't find this to be an issue for many of my solo rides. There are situations, riding with others being one of them, where I don't wear them. Safe, unsafe? It's a personal decision.
