Graeme Obree and Kickstarter

There has been some questions as to whether or not you have any affiliation with the Kickstarter campaign to fund another movie focusing on Graeme Obree.

I have no affiliation with the kickstarter campaign, but I am a fellow Scot who thought that the endeavour should be put in front of other cyclists who might not have heard about it, and used BF, another forum, and a local Facebook advocacy/action group. I have already donated, and as the goal has now been reached and even surpassed, I'm delighted to think that I may have played a small part.

It seems that my enthusiasm has been a little too infectious, please accept my apologies for any confusion I may have caused.

I think it was understood that this wasn't your campaign.

I think most, if not all, of the online recumbent community was aware of Graeme's quest from the beginning. Graeme pretty much screwed up by the numbers. Hubris is the only reason I can think why he would reject all the advice from the HPV community and 'invent' a design that had been discarded 40 years ago as being too inefficient. Heck, he even got beat by a trike.

I'm a big fan and admirer of Graeme with all his manic genius (or craziness) and his overcoming personal challenges. However, if the documentary effort has merit, it seems strange to me that they'd need to crowdsource 20k GPB to complete it, though maybe they view crowdsourcing as way to get the gullible to give them money in exchange for a few cheap trinkets.

IMO, the fundamental flaw in his land speed record approach was mainly aerodynamic. Otherwise, it's simply a question of whether he can generate more power prone or supine.
