Need saddle advice
getting back into riding. I have a 20 year old hybrid that I really enjoy riding. Just put on new tubes and tires, lubed everything, bought new shorts with jell pads. I am having a real pain in the backside. I have an old Vetta saddle, I think I need a new seat. What do I need to know to buy a new saddle?
Thank you in advance.

Gel shorts are not a good idea. Believe me.
If you can return them do so.
If you don't believe me go to the road forum and search for gel shorts. They are universally condemned.
Your ass is going to hurt for a day or so and then it goes away. The tissue in your peritoneum loses it's 'callous' if you don't ride for some time but will regain form with a little bit of riding. Takes time but not much.
Pads are a good thing. I use (because they are the best inexpensive one's I have found - I'm sure there are other really good ones) are from Performance, the Elite II bibs.

As to saddles I suggest you go to a shop. Tell them you need a new saddle. They should say "Let's measure your sit bones." and if they don't go somewhere else.

YMMV however I ride Brooks almost exclusively, that is with and without chamois padded shorts.
