wanted: helmet with short and/ or adjustable visor

Hi all, I've been reading the threads about helmets with and without visors and based on various postings I got a Giro Pneumo, which is ostensibly a road bike helmet with a short, removable visor.

I do now understand that road helmets aren't supposed to have visors but I really hate the sun beating on my forehead- it often gives me a headache.

But the Giro actually has a much bigger visor than I thought, and while I probably won't return it because it's pretty light and comfortable, now I'm understanding what people meant when they said that the visor causes one to have to lift the neck up too much when riding on the drops or on the hoods on a road bike. I usually ride a Specialized Tricross but sometimes I ride my old Specialized hybrid.

SO, I'm left looking for another solution. I can, indeed, sometimes wear a cycling cap, but when it's very hot I don't like it very much.

I'd prefer to find a well-ventilated helmet with a very short visor, or perhaps one that is adjustable, that is, has several possible angles up and down. I've read that such a thing exists but I'd like to hear if it's helpful or if it's just another thing to go wrong.

Any other advice is greatly appreciated.

thank you,

Neal

wetting a cotton cycling cap, under your helmet, does cool as it evaporates.

I have the Giro Indicator, and don't find any problem seeing when I'm in the drops (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...pf_rd_i=507846)

I just compared images of the two, and the visor seems to be at a different angle on these two models. Not sure if it would help solve your problem, but works for me. I also need to use a visor on the road. i get severe migraines, and am very light sensitive. I need the visor to cut down sun that gets in through the top of my sunglasses.
Might be worth trying one on if you can find it at your LBS.

Thanks fiestbob, I have only the wicking caps and should get an all-cotton one.

Re: Bolle Sunglasses- well, that's another problem- I need good cycling shades but I have a strong prescription and it's gonna be expensive.
