Does anyone make a 650b x 28-32 sized tire?
Been searching to no avail. Preferrably with some puncture protection. Any tip would be great.

650B gained popularity as a fat-tire conversion for 700C wheels. It doesn't make much sense to make room for a fat tire and go back to a narrow tire on that rim. The Rivendell Maxy Fasty is 33mm wide: http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/t101.htm

Hutchinson makes one for the confrerie des 650B. Compass Bikes sells them, www.bicyclequarterly.com . Panasonic also makes one for Grand Bois also sold by Compass.

They're a hair over 32mm, but Riv's (Panaracer) Nifty Swifty tires do have a kevlar belt for puncture protection: http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/t102.htm
I've been riding on them for 5 years and I'm pretty happy. One tire had to be replaced due to a sidewall rip, but otherwise great durability and only one flat ever, from a needle shaped sliver of broken glass in NYC that would have punctured anything. |
Well, the Pacenti Pari-Moto would be out if you want high-mileage and/or puncture protection...

I think I will try the swiftys. Thanks for the reiview, robo.
Is that a Bleriot in your avatar? I am getting mine for a Bleriot, too. |
