Things to consider before you go wireless
So I just started riding road bikes this winter. I thought I would splurge a little and get a wireless cyclocomputer. I knew that stuff could interefer with them, but I didn't know how many things.
I've used the thing twice. First time I took the computer part off the bike and put it in the truck on the ride home. Miles started ticking off like crazy. Second time was today. Worked ok. When I got home I brought it in to record the miles and time. I placed it down in front of my laptop. Ate dinner, came back and 24 miles have ticked off. Do they sell wireless setups with an OFF button? |
oh yeah. interference with my headlight makes it a no go. went back to wired.
|
Hmph. Not arguing that it could be interference; in fact it's quite likely. But it's also possible you have a bad unit. Tried exchanging it?
|
The head unit is a reciever. There will be lots of things that will signal it. HID headlights are one thing. I do agree however, try a new one if you can get a free repalcement before giving up.

I haven't had any trouble with mine. Oh, and is it true that wireless computers interfere with each other?
|
I don't have it's original packing, and I bought it online. might be more trouble than it's worth to exchange it....

Maybe you were bicycling the whole time and just didn't know it... (Twighlight Zone music plays)

Seeing as you cannot get the sending unit on your own bike too far away, because the head will not get the signal. It seems difficult to get someone else's sending unit too close to your receiver (head unit). Maybe on a bike rack on the car, if the wheel is moving? They have to be pretty close. I don't see how another rider would interfere with your bike. |
You might as well leave these problems behind and go with a wired system...
