Just my luck :-(

It's been beautiful weather all summer (sunny, no rain) and of course the week I get my first road bike and all the accessories, it starts raining everyday. It also doesn't seem to be letting up next week at all :notamused:.

I just wanted to ride my new bike this weekend :(.

I don't know where you live, but come out here to Missouri.

If it rains - that would be great. We really need it. If it doesn't rain, you'll be able to ride your bike all you want. That sounds like a win-win to me.

I wish it would rain here. I love to ride as soon as a good rain stops. Everything is cooled off and air is fresh and clean. It will stop raining, trust me. However, if you see a guy building a really big boat and he has a bunch of animals all bets are off.

Just ride in the rain!
It will give you a good excuse to get intimate with your bike afterward with a nice wipedown:thumb:

Haha yeah, I mean we do need the rain since it's been very dry all summer (though not nearly as dry as the center of the country). It's just unfortunate that it had to come right after I got my bike.

I agree with you about going ahead and riding in the rain if it were an older bike. However, I understand why someone would not want to ride a new bike in the rain. The new bike probably did not come with water restraint grease. I have a bike that is only 2 months old and I would not hesitate to ride it in the rain. However, when the bike was new I completely disassembled it and repacked all of the bearings (including the freewheel) with Mobil 1 Synthetic grease. That grease is not water proof but it is water restraint. Since I know what kind of grease is in my bike I will ride it in the rain. I know many people will tell you not to take apart a freewheel and put grease in it but I have done it with every bike I own and have never had a problem.

This reminds me to find some good rain gear for the fall, winter, and spring.

Now is the time to find all that winter clothing at a deep discount.... but limited sizes. Fortunately, I spent $$$ two winters ago and I'm all set!

And pedal down to Arkansas. We are in exceptional drought conditions here and the weather folks are saying it should last till October or November.
