Using a time trial/triathlon bike on the road

Hello all,
I'm very new to cycling, been riding for about a month since not having ridden for 7 years. I'm mainly riding for fitness as my other day for running one day and then biking the next. I'm currently doing about 10mi a ride for 40mi a week, although I've been increasing that each week. I have a vague notion to try a sprint triathlon in the next 6 months or so but that plan is in very uncertain and early stages.

I've been riding a 1976 Araya road bicycle, and I've been scanning the craigslist pages for good deals. Recently someone placed a 2000 litespeed blade for $500 which I believe is a good deal(please correct me if I am mistaken). From my research I understand this is for time trials and triathlons, but how would it work for everyday riding? Is there anything that would make it impractical or uncomfortable for everyday riding use?

He is asking more for the Lightspeed.

TT/Tri bikes are not noted for their comfort. By design, they accommodate a very aero position required for competition, which is typically not comfortable.

I have a good friend that actively competes in both sprint triathalons and full length triathalons and she always rides her "training" Cervelo R5 no matter where we ride. I am too old for that so I ride my Salsa Campion and just try to keep up......

I commute 55 kms/day 4 days a week with a tri bike mainly because I wanted something a bit faster so I would not spend all day on the road. It's been 7000 kms since I got the bike and I'm still glad I did. The main downside is that you cannot fit fenders or rack on that kind of bike. Personnaly I modified a few things to get it all on the bike, It's Fred but it's working fine for me.

I have a tt bike my r1000 and it's fine for longer rides in the road. JJust make sure the blade fits before you pull the trigger
