I'm just mad because my car is listed on their fit list for this model and the rep told me it should work well but there is clearly a lot of pressure on the window. I guess I'm out 40 bucks too cause Amazon said no to the return.

edit: scratch that! I called Amazon again and a different rep said ok to me. I will get my refund
Glad to see you're in line for a refund. Even it it were to work, you would have to worry every time the bike were loaded.

It looks to me like you need to loosen the upper staps and lower the rack so the upper set of 'legs' rest below the wiper on the metal part of the hatch. then the lower single leg should rest on the top od the bumper against the car just below the plate.

The rack shouls have a more vertical orientation so the bike hangs vertically.

The rubber pieces cannot be on the window and you mounted like that anyway? Did you buy this at a shop? I never saw this rack but I have installed the older Allen 103 rack on dozens of vehicles and never mounted one horizontal like that.

Your rack should be mounted like the one in this pic, but again the upper legs shouldbe on the metalbelow the window.

thanks in advance.
Look safe? Oh no, oh hell no!!

Leveraging the entire weight of the bike plus the add force applied every time your car hits a bump to the glass is just stupid.

Bad rack design...........

It isn't a bad rack design it is user error. The OP stated two or three post later the directions state NOT to install the feet on the glass!!

Agreed, it's just mounted too high/forward. The lower feet should be on the bumper.

the directions say it is ok as long as the bottom feet are off the glass which is how I had it. I tried putting it lower near the bumper but due to the way my car is shaped and the way the rack was designed, the bottom part collapses into itself.

I'm sure it is a quality rack but just not for my car.

I too would return it and while you are going to pay more for the hitch and hitch mount rack it will be well worth it. Also, most hitch mounts allow you to drop the mount so you can open the tailgate while it's mounted.

Did you buy it at a shop? We seldome sold a rack without making sure the owner knew how to mount it. Take it back and look at an basic 103 B or whatever letter it is now. I have used that on my '83 Cavilier, 72ish Caddy Coupe, a full size Dodge van, mid 80s Escort, 84 300ZX, Merkur, 03 taurus, 89 Suburban, I mean it goes on ANYTHING!! just get someone knowledgable at the shop to help you put it on the first time.
