Veratomic quick release locks??
 

I came across a website for what looked to be a great idea for quick release locks. http://www.myquicklock.com I'm confused as to why they aren't everywhere - seems like everyone would want to use them - unless they don't work as advertised. I can't find anyone who uses them or has even heard of them. We're taking our bikes to Amsterdam for two weeks of riding in NL. LOTs of bike thieves... Any feedback or suggestions would be helpful.

um.... all a thief would need is one of those keyed handles. There are only 100 different keys if you read the testimonials. If they had a few of them, chances are they could unlock your wheels and seat post.

Also, aside from the seat post, they really do nothing that a long cable coudn't do. You still need to carry a lock with you to lock the frame anyway, so what's the big deal about these again?

Oh yeah, they only sell it from that website, and I don't buy things from websites that look like that. Sorry, but if someone is selling a product, they could at least invest some time and develop/buy a decent online store, and any place asks to pay via paypal is usually somewhere I don't want to shop. I understand that as a small business, they probably don't have the resources to do those things. But, it doesn't take much to have some better photos and put some thought into the design of your store.

That looks like a good idea. Of course it's not foolproof, but the best you can ever really do is deter theft. That does pose a significant obstacle to bike thieves, and unless your bike is super nice compared to all the others, they'll likely move on.


As for Amsterdam...from what I've heard, I'd lock the bike to myself :)

I think Kryptonite also has their version of this. But I think it costs allot more. This looks like a decent deal.

They aren't the first to make them as their web site claims. About 10 years ago I saw some called Anti-Scam Cams. I have no idea if they work or not. I have Krypto-Skewers and am quite happy with them.
