The Ultimate NYC bike...."not really"

Yesterday I was doing the NYC holiday thing and came across a guy all decked out in body armor, Hero camera on Helmet chatting with another fella looking the same riding this beast around the city. He had the coolest largest smooth city tires I ever saw.

Maybe he got lost, did you ask him if he needed directions to the nearest downhill technical track?

Reminds me of a friend that bought a Santa Cruz Nomad for riding the local (paved & flat) MUP's.

A little wierd. What would qualify as 'the largest, smoothest city tires I ever saw' would have to be Maxxis Hookworms in a 26x2.5 size. Completely unsuitable for downhill racing - which is what the DH bike and full body armor suggests. That would be one heavy, sweaty combination to use for commuting. Its possible they were just planning on filming some urban assault stunts.

YES, I assume that was the purpose but it was a sight to see. Not your typical looking cyclist....but I bet it is fun.
