Nice video. It was back when cycling was a gentle exercise, and they were not trying to get anywhere fast.

I always like watching old videos from the turn of the last century. If you look closely, you'll see they are riding on cobblestone with no suspension seat post or frame! In fact, all the roads back then were dirt mixed with broken cobbles. What would make you get off the saddle they just rode throught it!
I would still prefer that slow moving traffic any day over what we have today.

Oddly enough, I saw a modern video where they were showing people in Europe biking. And some people clearly had the same bike posture. I guess it might be a European thing that never went away.

Back in those days, anything moving over 20 mph was considered fast, anything over 30 mph was considered a breakneck pace. Certainly cars back in the day didn't have the souped up horsepower we have today, and most of them traveled as fast as a horse carriage at trot. If they saw one of our modern race cars going by, they would die from shock.
