Here are a few items to verify prior to making an online purchase for a bicycle or other item.
The internet is full of fraudulent online shops.

1. Verify when internet domain name was first registered (Whois)
2. Verify where internet domain name was registered (Different country)
3. Verify physical address of stated shop with local freight company (DHL, Fedex etc)
4. Check company registration, if different country to shop avoid purchase
5. If payment options are only TT or Weston Union, this should raise warning bells
6. Examine website for small peripheral items, quite often they don't show these
7. Ask for a recent customer testimonials, then verify
8. If payment details are for Indonesia, and shop is in another country don't proceed
9. The more attractive the price, the more cautious you need to be

These websites don't usually hang around for long. They register another domain name, change the website template (Colour, name & layout). The most recent website to be careful with is www.cycling-hub.com

Sorry for the negative quote for my first entry.
I have been mountain biking in NZ for around 10 years now. Currently own a Scott Genius 10.

A group of us have entered a multisport event, with the training it has made me examine the latest Scott 900 spark series. I realise the change from genius to spark.

When searching online for a good deal, I stumbled across quite a few bogus sites, thought it was worthwhile commenting on these.
I am not trying to teach old dogs new tricks....

NZ ... you must do a lot of shopping at Torpedo7. We've got some really good deals from them.

I purchase all of my consumables through Torpedo7, very good to deal with.

New bikes via normal retail shops in NZ are quite expensive. A Scott spark 930 will set me back $5500NZD. I can buy the same bike from the US for $4000NZD. (Shipping $100) Too many middle men on the way down here....

My Genius 10 frame was purchased via Ebay offshore, upgraded my older Scott FX15.
I buy most items via Ebay.

Do you ever order from Chain Reaction Cycles or Wiggle? Both are out of the UK and offer free shipping and some good prices on cycling stuff.

For the most part, it's a whole lot cheaper for us (in Australia) to order from places like Chain Reaction Cycles, Wiggle, and Torpedo7 rather than going to bicycle shops.

Are you sure shipping from the US is only $100? We have found it to be much more expensive than that ... so expensive we can't order anything from the US.
