Um...no. I can see everything around me despite my rather decent saddle to bar drop.

The amount of comments about our seats jacked up and the bars 'down low' is entertaining. You all realize that's how a road bike is supposed to be, right? And is rather comfortable?

"Every time I see those guys with the BB out front or their back perpendicular to the ground they just keep flailing their arms! Don't they realize they're losing speed and aren't looking where they're going? I know when I ride, I'm out to ENJOY myself and admire the speed I'm carrying. They must be dumb for not doing the same."

Yep...this just about covers the whole "why are roadies so stuck up" mindless droning.

Who gives a rat's ass if someone waves or not. Are we little babies whose feelings are easly hurt or what?

Man up (or person up). Wave if you want to, don't wave if you don't want to. Stop whining about non-wavers. Always help other riders in need.

That last two times I stopped to help stranded cyclists, it took me over half an hour each time to fix, or attempt to fix, each issue. Both times, I was made late to work. I may just blow by the next stranded cyclist I come across.

If you are commuting to work you get a pass on my book. I would at least stop and check that the other rider is OK.

I keep passing broken down riders on my lunch training ride. You can say I am an ahole or realize that I have meetings to attend and need to hurry home.

Heck somewhere to be and a time when you are expect to be there is more than enough reason to not stop.

I do not feel cyclists have an obligation to stop and help, especially when it seems to be that someone else simply was not prepared.

Honestly the most helpful I ever was cost me virtually no time, but one tube. 25 miles into a double century I passed a rider stopped changing a flat. Well technically not changing a flat. Poor guy was on his third flat and would have had to patch a tube at that point. Cost me a tube and a few seconds.

BUT my riding is far different, recreational and a stranded rider would really be stranded about half the time. If it is a block to the nearest Starbucks the issues with helping or not are entirely different than if it is 3 miles to the nearest cross street and 10 to the nearest water.

A Generalization can't be too Overly-Broad - the sky's the limit with Generalizations. hmmmmmmm..............a whole forum devoted to stereotypes, generalizations, etc.

On the way home is a different story. I will always stop then, daylight permitting.

9 pages...too much to read. I'm not a roadie, but I ride road, mtb, and urban. I've always waved, nodded, or said hi to other riders, but now find myself tiring of it in heavily ridden areas. When riding a greenway trail, am I supposed to wave to the innumerable number of riders, and runners/walkers.

Believe me, I'm friendlier than most people, but it's like when your running on a track or looped trail...how many times are you supposed to say hi, wave, or make eye contact with those you pass. At some point it gets uncomfortable so both parties avert their gaze.
