iPhone mount that doesn't block camera?
I searched, but was unable to find what I am looking for.
Does anyone know of an iPhone mount that doesn't block the camera? I would prefer to be able to record video while cycling (for safety reasons). And, obviously, it does not have to be iPhone-specific. ;) Thanks, all! |
Find a good mount that works well for your phone, bars and the position you want it in, then drill a hole where needed. How does recording video while riding improve/affect safety?

Posted this a while back in the Electronics forum and got no interest. Which really doesn't matter to me cause I'll be buying one anyway:

I guess it protects me if something is ever to happen and I have to go to court, or deal with a hit and run.

You have to remove your current case. 3. I could get a Lifeproof case for $80 and a Lifeproof bike mount for $30, saving me $20. Those being said, I really like that! If I was willing to drop $150 on a mount and case, I would definitely go that route. |

What do you mean? Most mounts are made for cars. Not sure what this drilling is all about. (Bear with me here, sorry.)

I kinda like the Lifeproof case myself. Thing is - the Outride has a wide angle conversion lens built into their case which results in a 170-degree viewing angle. The stock still camera capture mode on an iPhone 4 is probably only 40 degrees and selecting video mode reduces that. Don't know if part of the attraction of the GoPro is the wide angle lens - but this is the next closest thing I've seen.
Speaking of safety, I just got home from my first ride of the season (I know - I'm a little late). Almost got hit already. Ugh! Hate this area! |

Yes, but IMO, I don't think videoing with your smartphone is going to reduce the likelihood of getting hit or reduce the severity of injuries if you do.
