This is a good quality lock with a laser cut key that is approximately 5" x 12" in dimension.

Cutter U-lock $10.78

I've seen some user reviews of a cutter U lock when it has come up on Chainlove from time to time. What I've read says that the lock cyclinder is easily picked by a novice with a ballpoint pen. Might or might not be that same model, but I have doubts about a $10 lock. I do use some $10 cable locks myself, but only casual use in low risk areas. If I were to leave my bike unattended in a high risk area, I would use a good U lock.

Having a key for each bike is extra bulk in my pocket. I usually have two bikes, and sometimes three. When bikes were cheaper I had a one-key set of four Master padlocks. The theft countermeasures are becoming heavier. A U-lock and cable is a lot of weight to drag up hills, and hauling one lock for each wheel is unacceptable. It won't get stolen if it's too heavy to ride and is left at home.

I have the cable, 3/8" thick by 9 feet long, works to hook up multiple bikes; I also have a foot-long Master U-lock, and a 4' Oxford chain/padlock combo with the trapezoidal links. I can take my bike in the building at work, but if I'm going somewhere else for any length of time, 2 locks go if I'm alone, all 3 if my kids are with me -- plus, my daughter has her own U-lock, a 9" Kryptonite. Bike theft is a crime of opportunity here, pure amateur dullards (thankfully!), I've NEVER had a bike stolen under my care.

ANECDOTE: I had a Schwinn 10-speed back in the 70's; after getting my first car, it basically sat around. My best friend borrowed the Schwinn, and had it stolen & stripped from off of his enclosed back porch. Turned out to be his COUSIN who stole it. The bike cost me $55, my buddy paid me $45 for it, and took it out of his cousin's hide.
Okay. This whole post really has me freaking out now. My bike is at home. I am at work. I don't like not having it with me everywhere I go! BUT! I swear it! I am going home and setting nasty booby traps up throughout my house that will be guaranteed to take out anyone even remotely thinking of touching my bike. I am talking about poisonous darts, arrows, boiling tar, giant boulders that will crush people, ceilings and floors that close and have spikes on them. Not only will they be crushed, but they will be stabbed first. Oh. And I think I will end up getting a guard dog too. Yes. I wonder if my brother still has any English Mastiffs for sale??? And when out and about I will never let my bike leave my side. Nope. No way. I will take it through a drive through to buy water if I need to.
