Riding Shorts With BallRoom Dancing
My mtb shorts are killing me. I'm thinking about going back to tights which might get some honks from behind on the trail. Doesn't seem to matter how much larger of a waist size I get, the crotch still yanks on my goods. Now I'm starting to ride with a lean in the saddle.
Is it just the mtb style or can I find a brand that's cut with some generosity, or what? I've got various pairs of compression shorts for other activities, some slimmer than others, the Smartwool hiking undershorts are the best fit, but I can't find any proper diaper that's got the same cut. Or do I just need to lower my saddle? Help a brutha out.

Are you complaining because loose mtb shots allow too much movement in your genitals, and are uncomfortable because of it?
Are you complaining because tight bike shorts are uncomfortable because they don't allow enough movement?
I don't understand what you're complaining about, just use plain talk please.
To me, aside from other benefits, one of the best things about tight lycra bibs/shorts/liners is they hold the parts in place, just like any good athletic inner shorts or supporter. I would never wear baggy shorts unless I wear lycra (bibs or shorts/liner) underneath.

Yeah dude, my shorts are too tight in the crotch, need more ballroom. Got me shiftin' in the saddle to try to make room. They're mtb short, so the inners are tight but the outers are loose. They seem to grab and pull along the leg and get worse and worse along the way. I need 'em gut with some ass room I guess.

In all seriousness, I pretty much just use bib shorts nowadays because they hold everything in place and don't shift around. I wear them under baggies if I think baggies are called for.
Sounds like an important issue to solve - I wish you the best!

If you're actually riding off-road - you'll tear up lycra pretty quick if branches are close on the trails. That's one reason the material is different in mtb shorts. But they're not supposed to be uncomfortable - suggest you hit a shop and try on a couple different sizes. You may have bought a size too small.

Well the universal answer is "bibs".

Lycra shorts are made tight so you can pull the equipment up out of the way and it'll stay there while you ride. Google "Polish cycling team red shorts" for an, um, illustration.

maybe you need Tripod bike shorts , add a middle leg..
Some shorts line the seat with an absorbant towel like texture..
then things hang loose, like in boxers..
Seen recumbent shorts that have added a strap around the cuff to keep bugs from flying in ..
... heard; some Aussies call Speedos "Budgie Smugglers" ..
