Shimano SH-R088 - SPD holes?

I'm looking at the Shimano SH-R088 shoes and I see the standard two holes on top of the SPD-L holes for cleat mounting. Does anyone know if this shoe directly hooks to SPD cleats without having to use the SM-SH40 adapter?

I don't have those particular shoes but if Shimano made them and they have the 2 hole plate, you can be sure that SPD cleats will fit.

Yep. That's what those two central parallel slots and nut plate are for.
