Quick lock question

I live in Brooklyn and usually do not leave bikes outside "too" long . Right now I have a four sided krypto chain and one of their defective locks. Heres what im thinking of doing, should I get an American 707 lock (2-1/2" Wide, 1-1/8" Thick, 6 Pin, hardened steel) for the chain, and the krypto New York U-lock. Or just get the New York Fahgettaboudit chain and lock, and use nothing else. The reason Im leaning towards the american lock and New York U-lock is because id like to start doing some touring, and I feel like the u-lock is light and small enough to take with me and fairly secure for quick lock ups. (while in the city id be using both chain and u lock) However do u guys feel the New York Fahgettaboudit chain and lock is that much more secure the then other option, cause if so I might just go with that (I cant afford to buy both the new york chain and the u lock). Thanks guys, any other opinions u guys have on locks would also be greatly appreciated.

Why not just go to a locksmith and buy a high quality padlock for your existing chain? Then, send the "round key" padlock back to Kryptonite for a replacement.

If you are going to use a chain, a padlock, PLUS a U-lock, consider an OnGuard Brute. You can get one for around $50 or $55, and it is as strong, or stronger than any U-lock widely sold in the USA, including the Kryptonite New York Lock. But it is heavier than most bike frames...about five pounds of steel.

Get a shrouded Mul-t-Lock for the existing chain. Get a cheap cable lock for touring. Most of the country is not like NYC.
