I was on eBay today looking for some decent used bib shorts, and this was the best/cheapest I could find. I decided to bid and I won the auction at $16.50.

What do you guys think? Good deal, or not? I'm not worrying too much as I didn't pay a whole lot in the first place, but would like to know everyone's opinion. Thanks.

You do realize that the majority of cyclists don't wear anything under their bibs? You can go onto Amazon and get full sets brand new for $30.

I don't need a full set, and I know most don't wear anything under, neither do I.

They have this new stuff at certain locations (VERY hard to find) called LAUNDRY DETERGENT!!!

Who cares if someone else wore them. Wash them and wear them. Its not like your licking them....Are you? lol

For sub $20, it could be a good deal. Question is if the chamois has gotten so much use that it has broken down. Wash them and go ride them. If they feel good, it was a good buy. If after a ride you feel that the pad doesn't feel like it is doing much, you wasted $16.50. No big deal.

Anyway, yeah I'm hoping the padding is ok, but to be honest bought them more for the fact that these won't fall down like my cycling shorts I have. It doesn't bug me all too much if the padding isn't that great.

Really cause my old athletic clothing always smells sweaty after I wash it. The idea of wearing something that was drenched in someone else's ball sweat is kind of nasty.

So you shouldn't buy a used shirt because someone probably sweat in it before? It's just sweat no matter where it comes from.
I don't know what you do to wash your stuff, but my stuff smells fine after washing.

First off reread my post I'm talking about a very specific type of sweat.I put my clothes in washer on warmest setting clothes will accept (cold to warm) put in laundry detergent wait, put in dryer and fold. They don't smell horrible but not as fresh as say my cotton shirts. I don't get the idea of buying used clothing. Clothes are made so cheaply these days that most will last two to three years. Plus the cost of buying new clothes can be low if you know where to look and shop around.

I had the same issue with some of my sweaty gym clothes, specifically nike dry fit material. Use a fabric softener and it will help.

Sweat from an armpit is the same as "ball sweat", etc. It's the same. And used clothes are fine, I've never had a problem with them.

FWIW: You can use borax or Oxiclean when washing cycling apparel. Either disinfects and deodorizes without harming the fabrics. If your stuff is really soiled or stinky, presoak in either. I've even used it to soak and de-stench cycling shoes that were stanky from multi-day wet rides; soak overnight, rinse well, let dry. Fresh as a daisy.

Don't use chlorine bleach or fabric softeners.

The bibs are probably fine, I'd give them a good wash before wearing.

However, check out The Clymb, they had cannondale clothing all summer listed on their site for not much more than what you paid. I think they had new cannondale bibs for around $40.

Not. You can find something way better, brand new, for about thirty bucks.

Never figured I'd be posting THIS on a cycling forum BUT......... Hang your clothes out in the sunlight to dry. UV rays are incredible deodorizers, they kill the bacteria that a washing machine, detergent and a dryer don't and bacteria is what causes "Ode de Scrotum". Clotheslines may be old fashioned but they can't be beat for getting your clothes to smell fresh. Unless of course you live down wind from a paper mill or hog confinement.... :eek:

I know you are trolling, You got the expected "ugh, used bibs?" replies and you were pretty quick with your defensive response. If you actually are going to wear used bibs, don't tell the folks you ride with. I guarantee your personal hygiene will forever be suspect.

well I tell you two ways to make everything OK ! first you can SHOUT it OUT, or just tell everybody they were your Brothers' and he doesn't want them anymore ! that will make it OK for you to wear!!! but the best thing to do just don't say anything to anybody!!!!!

I would have liked to. But believe me when I say money is tight for me right now, even for 30 dollars. Besides, the washer is your friend for used items, I don't see why people get grossed out.

This used MASI jersey didn't smell clean until I washed it in hot water -- warm didn't do the job. And the hot didn't hurt it:

lol...one of my saved searches for new bibs on EBAY caught my attention( notifies me whenever someone lists containing those words in the title). I saw an auction on a pair of bibs and it's actually the bibs I sold to someone.

Now the (my buyer)seller is claiming he's "only worn it for a handful of rides". I could still see the significant marks on the bibs that I know was my fault (disclosed on my auction). I can't imagine the horror on the 3rd user if he finds out 2 pairs of sweaty testicles/butt crack had already laid on those chamois.
