check out the following website.

It looks like a bicycle commuting utopia. Alas, a utopia it will likely remain. but we can dream.

Cheers,

Looks expensive. :p Do you know if any cities are considering this as a possibility?

That website has been there for several years and so far no takers.

Hmm . . . it sounds like a bicycle toll road.

It could be a good idea if it was simply used as a bicycle highway to connect various parts of town. But you would still need to be allowed to ride your bike on regular roads once you get off this highway, because unless you build one on top of every existing road, it won't go where you want it to go.

My fear is that cities would build a few of these things, and then say, "OK, now just ride your bikes here, and stay out off the roads." And suddenly bicycling becomes a much LESS useful means of transportation. Instead of being able to ride your bike around for free and get where you are going, you have to pay to ride your bike to someplace that may or may not be close to where you are going.

Well, I must say that the idea of using 150hp electric motors to blow up a tailwind rather negates the energy efficiency of bicycles. What's wrong with directing the natural wind into the tunnel in the requirred direction with rotating inlet nozzles?

Hm . . . thinking about this a little more, I'm also worried about going 25-30 mph surrounded by people who don't know how to ride bikes around other people. Granted, I guess that's more or less what I do when I ride anyway, sharing the road with people who don't know how to drive.

For those who are interested, do a google search on "transglide 2000", or "Milnor Senior", or "Milnor H. Senior" to see some more info.
