Cyclist vs. bike rider
Which name do you prefer to be called? To me bike rider sounds derogatory and childish. Cyclist sounds more masculine and adult-like, so I prefer that. What about you?

Cyclist sounds very feminine to me ... please call me a "cyclist".

I perfer cyclist to bike rider or biker since the later two suggest I'm on a motorcycle. However the former suggest I'm on a bicycle.

It's a matter of semantics to me. To me, cyclist" means someone who knows what they're doing with a bike; while "bike rider" could be anybody on a bike, including some bum riding the wrong way up the road, at 4 mph in high gear.

Well you have no choice, "Biker" is associated with motorcycles, we need to start call them "Mikers" and take the name back!

What makes you think you know more about how to ride your bike your way, than "some bum" riding his bike his way? Sounds like a matter of bicyclist snobbery to me.
