an optimistic seller trying to recoup their mistake

The NuVinci 360 CVR hub works. it has a gripshift you just turn the handle, till the effort feels right.

Had two come into my clinic. The rear derailleur is shifted by a set of spinning weights. This means that there's more parts to go wrong, and more places for debris to get into to make things go wrong. It also means you have no control over the shifting;go faster, you upshift,go slower, you downshift. I could see this causing issues if you're trying to mash up a steep hill. Otherwise, they were just low spec comfort bikes.

You have to expect some issues with a bike designed for someone too lazy or dense to shift.

I remember seing a commercial where people were all confused by the shifters on a bike... totally ruining what could have been a fun ride.

My older brother bought one several years back - assembled it and never rode it. I brought it home, cleaned off the dust, lubricated, trued, adjusted, and tested it...

I didn't like the shifting really - it upshifted too slowly and rarely felt like it was in the gear I would've selected.

Anyhow, I sold it for my brother in a day, for $250, and mailed him a check. He was happy to get some money back. Fellow who bought it didn't really want to test ride it much. Just wanted the bike.

I kept the little LandRider multitool. Poorer quality than the comparable Park Tool, but there is a backstory to make it more interesting. PG
