Bells Bells Bells

Any bike bells known to be better than most others?

The Incredibell Omnibell seems like a easy choice https://www.rei.com/product/801939/mi...bell-bike-bell, except that I'd like a choice of colors. Also, does this seem to stick up higher than some others? It seems to adjust to a larger diameter than some, which I am guessing may be important if it needs to go on a new carbon handlebar?

eBay has some in Hong Kong but the seller has a lot of negative responses recently https://www.ebay.com/itm/Practical-Cr...item1c3827d1d5.

another in NJ but it's over $30! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-Mi...10847834756%26

Any input on my (over)thinking...or something I am not thinking about....is appreciated.

Not that I like buying offshore but on occasion you have to but, a lot of the Chinese sellers seem to be getting complaints on shipping times or items not received lately, not just this one.
I'd still think long and hard about buying from them though.

I buy from overseas pretty often; if it's coming postal (and it is), it'll be two weeks easy.

If you're going to go cheap and overseas, skip the *bay nonsense and go with something like dealextreme.com. I just got a "ladybug" bell for $3.40, free shipping. Looking good on my road bike handlebar. It rings. My advice is when you order from China, just order and forget about it. If it takes six weeks, you know about it up front and don't care, then it's no problem.

I guess I just want a combination of everything (who doesnt, right??).

I want a choice of colors (china or NJ versions), a strap that fits larger handlebars (omnibell), and NOT $30!

I have the Incredibell Brass Duet on three bikes. Choice of silver or brass colors.

I have the Brass Duets on several of my bikes, too. Not too huge, but nice tone for their size. Maybe just as importantly, it doesn't ring itself every time I go over a bump.

Depending on how picky you are there can be a lot of detail things to think about on where to install a bell on your bike and how to use it.

I just got a (I think Crane) brass bell from Niagria that looks and sounds great but sticks up a little higher than the bell it's replacing. The dinger on my last bell broke off while I was loading the bike into my car.

Yeah - I'm WAY out on the picky scale when it comes to courtesy bells on my bikes. If I like that Crane bell as much as I think, I may have to figure how to install them on a couple of my other bikes.

I've put these bells on all our bikes, attached just above the headset on the stem where it's easy to operate with a thumb, but out of the way:

https://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...97&category=70

I chose the Planet Bike version for the nice forged clamp, thumb operated dinger (easily rotated to the best position), and their donation policy. They are essentially same as the Crane version. The brass ones have a beautiful tone.

I think that i like that one even better than the one that I just bought. I wonder if I could make it work on a couple of my other bikes.

This one works well for me:

It has that classic Brrrring-Brrrring ring to it.
