I live in rural Missouri, about a metric-Century from my LBS, so I must take care of most of my cycling needs on-line.
I just finished my first ride with a pair of 8-panel lycra, CoolMax chamoised shorts from Zerie USA - These are THE best fitting shorts that I've ever had on and the workmanship appears to be top-notch. I bought two pair @ $23.99 each and paid $2.00 shipping. I found Zerie USA at eBay but you can also go to www.zerieusa.com where you will find a complete line of cycling clothing. AFTER I had ordered the shorts, I got an email from Zerie's Andres Rojas of Alpharetta, Georgia who informed me that Zerie USA is a small, family owned business that is very committed to customer satisfaction. He asked how tall I was to ensure that the shorts I had ordered (Medium, 32-34 inch waist) were going to fit the rest of my frame. We exchanged a couple of emails (at 9:30 p.m.!), each assuring me that I could return/exchange the shorts if not completely satisfied. Andres followed up the next morning, informing me that my shorts were on the way via USPS Priority Mail. I would recommend these shorts and this company to any cyclists out there who appreciates value for the buck and terrific customer service. |
sounds kinda interesting, thanks for the heads up!
anybody else had any experience with these shorts? |
I've got a pair that I bought off eBay, too. They're my favorite pair of shorts.

How is the sizing of the shorts? Do they run small? big? or true to size? |
The sizing seems to be right on: I wear size 33 Rustler Jeans (a little baggy in the butt) and the "mediums" are a snug, supportive perfect fit. If you have any doubts about the sizing I'm sure (based on my experience) that the company will take great care to get the fit correct on the first try.
You can email Andres Rojas at ZerieUSA's eBay Store and I'm sure that he will ease your mind before ordering. |
I ordered a pair of tights and a pair of shorts based on this string. Will advise on results!

what's the chamois like in the shorts? the site doesn't seem to talk about it at all..
Thanks, Ben |
I tried to insert an image here but I'm too inept!
The chamois is a single panel, nicely padded, "suede" type bearing Dupont's trademark name "CoolMax" - see the description for "Men's SmartsuedeT chamois" on this page http://www.cannondale.com/clothing/0...bricguide.html. The Zerie seems to be very similar. I'm sure that if you email an inquiry to Andres he will be happy to provide a better description. |
Just ordered a pair of the shorts yesterday myself to try out... will let you all know! :)
|
I bought a pair of these also. Got them from ebay. Quality is pretty good. I would recommend them also.

Hye tpinow, you may want to edit your posts so that fella's address isn't available to spambots. Thanks for the heads-up on the shorts, in any case, as I am in the market for some new ones!

Well, I got mine today, and the verdict's mixed. On the upside, shipping was fast and cheap, and communication was very good. On the downside, I asked about sizing before ordering - I have a 30" waist, but plenty of butt and thighs - and Andres said a Medium should be fine. I should have gone with my gut, and will have to exchange them for large.
I ordered a pair of MtB shorts and a pair of tights. The shorts seem pretty decent, though I don't own any others to compare them to. I do however own some Pearl Izumi and Performance tights, and I'm definitely disappointed with the Zerie ones in comparison. The Spandex is nice but it's quite thin - I wear tights because it's cold, not because I want to have shapely legs. In addition, they don't have a draw string waist, and they don't have a high back, so I may be showing a lot of crack. I may ask him to change my tights order to another pair of shorts when I return them for a bigger size. Another upside is that I will be able to report on the returns process!! |
I just received my Zerie's as well. FAST shipping, and after emailing them, they told me to go with Large. Glad I did, fit pretty well.
Question for those that have had these... what is the recommended washing method? I can't quite tell what they mean by the label inside. I was planning on washing like my others... with detergent, but in cold wash/rinse, and no dry. |
Roughly translated, the label means:
1. Wash by hand 2. Don't use bleach 3. Don't use detergent (I use antibacterial liquid hand soap) 4. Don't dry in the sun 5. Don't dry in the dryer 6. Don't iron |
Interesting... sounds like a bit of a pita vs. my other shorts.
Thanks for the info. |
I ordered two pairs of shorts, and I'll say that the personal service I received equaled the accounts posted above.
I clicked "buy now" on one small pair of shorts, but was able to talk to him and not only change the size, I added another pair to the order and he gave me a break on the (already very low) priority USPS shipping. I still paid through paypal, and got the shorts in 3 days. Regarding washing: the washing instructions are similarly dramatic for all wicking fabrics. Go ahead and throw them in the washer then air dry. If you put them in the dryer, you'll reduce the wicking effectiveness, but you won't destroy them. The proprietor said he machine dries his own shorts. (But then, he's got an unlimited supply.) I tried them on, but haven't ridden with them. They fit better than the shorts I've been using, and I expect that my next ride will be just as smooth as this company's amazing service. -john |
Whoa... this is a nice price and good reviews..
it makes me wonder: When I was introduced, in general, to buying Bike shorts at my LBS (granted, their price would be higer), they basically said all shorts are okay, but ya have ta pay more to get better.... WAY MORE than $23.99 But I'm into budgets. can any of you who are riding these compare them to, say mid-upper level Pearl or Cannondale stuff, (like the Attack shorts that, when on sale, might be $45?) or Mt BOrah? thanks |
I received my bibs Monday, very fast & cheap shipping, excellent retailer (seller) to work with.
I really like the way they fit, only rode a 20 mile ride so far, but comfort was fine, it seems like good value for the money. My favorite shorts are my mid priced Cannondale's. Only time will tell on how the product will hold up. I did notice they are made in Columbia. |
Ok, is it just me? I'm only seeing a small Ebay store with not much selection. Not even 1 pair of road shorts in my size. I click the "contact us" link on left but nothing happens.

Guess I'm still not quite sold. I may wait as my LBS have spring sales and if there are name brand shorts/bibs (Pear/Cannondale/etc) on sale I may be inclined to go with the known known vs. known unknown (tip o' the hat to D. Rumsfeld for changing my way of thinking about things that are unthinkable, unknowable, and not fit for the eyes of common man) |
How right you are Sigurdd50. Spring sales will be starting next week. We have such a fine selection of LBS too. Which do you prefer?

How right you are Sigurdd50. Spring sales will be starting next week. We have such a fine selection of LBS too. Which do you prefer? Well, when I am buying a knock-around town bike for my kids, ya can't beat browsing the huge warehouse of bikes at Budget BIkes (the shop with the really old bikes and new ones too) They like to wheel and deal and trade when I was looking for my best deal this winter, Willy Street served it up (Valentines Day Sale) with the incredible deal on the Felt. When I was browsing for clothes, Eriks' had some nice prices (also a CycleOps trainer that was Slashed in price!) Machinery Row is the only place I got a lukewarm vibe. I also did a night at the BIke Expo... that was sorta fun How about you? I need a pump and a large seat wedge pack and I think I may go back to Willy for them... I also need another pair of shorts and a jersey... (OY! get a hold of yourself, Mark!) |
Wow, these shorts have some padding, but much less than my previous shorts. That's a good thing - much less stuff to get in the way of movement. In addition, the legs didn't scoot up at all. The crotch is roomier in front than I'm used to with my other shorts, but this is a small price to pay for the ability to step off the bike without any hint of a front wedgie. Theopowers, the back is suitably high for me. In fact, I wore my shorts with a non-cycling shirt and wasn't showing skin.
They are fairly lightweight, and time will tell if this effects durability. My ride today was only 15 miles. So far, I have no complaints at all. Regarding the "small ebay store," its appearance is not stately. Luckily, with service fit for a king, I'll cut them some slack for un-stocked shelves. They did not have my size/color listed on ebay either, but they were able to supply exactly what I asked for in my emails. |
Throw your shorts, and jersey's into pillowcases for machine washing. I use seperate pillowcases to prevent snags from jersey zippers. Use a gental detergent also. I still hang dry my items.
I have a pair of bibs from Zerie, and so far I like them alot. I'm going to get another pair, or two for the price. That will also keep me in a clean set of riding bibs. |
