Covering up the hole in a Thomson X2 stem?
 

I hope this is the right place to post a question like this.

I have a Thomson X2 road stem on my bike. now my problem is that most of the parts on it are black, except for one small place: in between the holes on the stem along the steerer tube

In this photo the steerer tube looks to be black and fits in with the colour of the stem, In my case the steerer tube is metallic. I was wondering, for aesthetics purpose only (I like a clean looking bike), if I can somehow make the steerer tube black, or do something to make it not stick out like a sore thumb anymore :(

black paint ? spend more money on a carbon fiber steerer fork

I was thinking of that, but i've heard stories of them breaking, i was hoping to keep my fork i have now.

And yes i typically like to have my bike looking nice and clean, idk it's kinda a weird thing i know.

I was thinking of this, but i didn't think of getting protective paint, i was too worried about the paint coming off, i'll try that.

1: remove stem
2: color exposed steerer tube with permanent marker
3: reinstall stem, adjust bearings
4: go ride

I was just saying to paint it, that was just the first image of black spray paint I came across. Your steerer is likely aluminum, it doesn't oxidize the same way as steel does so any paint will do as long as it will adhere to aluminum.

Or you could just use a marker like Jeff Wills mentioned. You could probably even do it without removing the stem.

just saw a few vids showing the spray painting of steerer tubes, i'm going to end up doing that.

Do not paint the steerer tube, just looking for trouble with bearings, fit and clamping ability. Try a black dye or permanent marker, or get a new stem and send me the old one.
