Pricing question for Giant OCR1

Hi guys,

I hope you guys can help me with this... I have a 2002 Giant OCR1 that I want to sell. I was wondering if you have any idea how much I should sell it for. (its on the ads right now for $530... maybe lower or higher?) I know it would have been better if I posted some pics but that is something I dont have right now. Its all stock (full shimano 105 components), minor scratches on the seat and rear derailer (i got it when i first used clipless pedals), never raced or crashed it, everything works fine. overall, i would rate the bike 8/10, imho. oh, and it has 1,500 miles on in. computer included, no pedals. I would really appreciate any input you could give me. Thank you!

What did you pay new? Seems as though bikes that are used but have fairly current components (I amssume this is 9 spd) go for about half plus a little. Like half plus $50 is one number I see thrown around a lot. You need to remember that people can typically get last years bikes for 20% off retail this time of year and that would make your bike another 2 years older and less apealing. Selling a used bike is going to = a loss.

I would perhaps shoot for a little higher myself. A new 2005 OCR1 with some Ultegra (STI shifters, rear der) has an MSRP of $1,000 so you couldn't go too high. And 1,500 miles is still new in my book.

Just for comparison's sake, I bought a new 2004 Raleigh Supercourse on ebay (full 105 and Ritchey equipped) for $655 shipped to my door. I also bought a used 2003 Specialized Allez Sport (Tiagra) for $370 that only had 1,000 miles on it.

You could always put it up on ebay and set a high reserve. Even if it didn't sell you may be able to get an idea what its market value is.

Thanks for the input guys. I really appreciate your taking the time to give your thoughts.
I'm not really hoping to make money out of it. I'm just hoping i get enough money so i can use towards a new mountain bike. ...and the buyer would put it to good use also.
Thanks for the comparison Doc! I'll probably end up putting the bike up on ebay. I'll give it a week or two with the ads for now.
Grasschopper, I think I paid around $900 for the bike. So I guess the $530obo selling price is not that bad.
My only concern is the scratch I got on the rear derailler. that might bring the price down. but it still works fine, though. oh well, we'll just see how it goes. thanks again guys!

Your price seems right about on the money. You might be able to go $50 higher if you have a bit more patience waiting for a buyer. However, you have left the pedals off and th original pricing includes them. I go about $600 in trade on my OCR1 (same year) about two months ago. I was trading up and both bikes were purchased at the same LBS. I'm sure that makes a difference. Anyway, I believe you have fairly priced it without pedals.

Make sure the bike fits or you're paying too much if the frame is too big/small.
