Big Wheel

They were great...kids loved them ...the ultimate pavement machine How cool was it to thrash around on something that couldn't tip over |
I wore the back wheels off of my Night Rider Big Wheel and my dad replaced them with blocks of wood that he rounded off. It kept going for a good long time.

I speak from experience when I say...they can tip over (but at least it was not a long fall).

Yeah, but it you rode one into a wall the fork would break.
We've got a lot of grand kids and had to stop buying Big Wheels. |
Big Wheels didn't exist when I was a kid - I had the 'normal' tricycle circa 1960...

By the time Big Wheels came around my legs were too darned long. Pissed me off. |
Yea I didn't get one of those plastic ones either!but I had fun with that flipped tricycle!
|
I had one that broke. I was about 5 or 6 and my brother was about 12. He took the axle out one day and started swinging it over his head round and round. I wanted to try it so I walked over to him as he was swinging it and he belted me in the skull. I still have a nice scar.

the plastic 'tires' slid sideways easily , rubber tires gripping better, increases the flipping over
tendency, in the same situation .. |

Some kids never grow up. They just get bigger toys:

The Huffy Green Machine, now that was the ultimate Big Wheel! They are still sold I think on Amazon. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...VL._SX300_.jpg |
The cool thing about Big Wheels was the drifting - which we just called 'sliding' at the time, and the noise. They had the built-in clickers in the back wheels.

The only difference is, Big Wheels are considered cool, while adult bents... |

It meets all the requirements, doesn't it??? Has a seatback, seat adjusts horizontally, pedals are at the same level as the seat (about mid-range for 'bents,) and they are too far in front of the seat to be considered an upright.
