if you're going to ride on the sidewalk...
... don't insist that pedestrians move out of your way.
I just went for a quick walk on my lunch break. I was walking on a narrow sidewalk next to a street with a very wide shoulder. A road cyclist in full kit rides up from behind me... ding ding ding..."hello! Outta the way!" He says. I point out that there's a perfectly good road for his use as he speeds off.

Shame on you. Apparently you didn't recognize how important that bike rider was. There are some people to whom everybody else is supposed to defer. Next time, try to be more observant.

Just today I told a guy with a KHS "That bike is too nice for the sidewalk" but he wasn't hauling ass at least. I make sure not to exceed 7mph and always yield for pedestrians (watch out for those skateboarders though!)
And here and there you actually have a chance to be a good samaritan and help people out. Also if you see cars aren't yielding and letting someone cross, give them a chance to cross and hopefully you change the perception of people on bikes
