I really need help on helmet
 

Hi. I'm new to this forum and road bike. is it ok to ask a question here?

it's kind of sad story. Anyway, I have been trying to find a helmet that fits on my head.
I have looked online numerous articles/recommendations for a helmet that fits weird & large head.
Also tried some of helmets in local bike shops.

my head is flat back, long sides, pointy front.

It is like a triangle or saddle :(

Also circumference is like 58cm

I tried all types of large helmets and nothing feels right.

Any personal experience or recommendation for me??

Post this on the helmet thread. Maybe someone will take a break from the infighting there to give you some specific advice.

OTOH- I suspect it's going to be a question of trial and error to find the shell with the best approximate fit, then tinkering with various combinations of pads and pad position, possibly using stick-on Velcro to mount pads farther forward on the sides, where your head is narrower.

Moved from A&S to General Cycling.

Something that has an adjustable knob may help. Not sure if that is common now, last few helmets I had had one but I think there are some helmet lines that don't have that nice adjuster. May cost a bit more but it is still worth it.

Try and find Uvex helmets. German, extremely high quality. Not cheap, though.

I have a Bell Citi helmet that fits my odd melon pretty well. I think they've renamed it the Muni now.

You may want to try a non traditional helmet,

If you are doing regular riding on the roads, you don't need a helmet, as they offer little to no protection against head trauma. A much better investment would be a rear-view mirror. The recent ACA study has shown that collisions from the rear are the most dangerous to cyclists; thus, it pays to keep a good eye on what's going on back there.

You'll notice that in all mature cycling environments, helmets are rarely worn; similarly, a year or so after the NYC bike share program started, in which few riders wear helmets, there has yet to be a single head injury.

So save the money you would spend on a helmet and spend one-quarter of it on a rear-view mirror. You also won't have the sizing problem :)

Like shoes , best to try them on in person .. some fit all have the back of the helmet adjustable .

Giro used to be more Oval and Bell, Rounder .. but Bell Bought out Giro so IDK what they are now.

I also sometimes find significant differences in internal shape between different models within a brand. This was the case with Specialized where the Prevail didn't fit my head well at all but the Echelon was nearly perfect.

First go to all of the Xmart stores, DSG, Sports Authority, and REI. If those don't work, then contact Bell.

Very good advice. All vehicles should have mirrors, period. It's the single best investment in security you can make.

I am bald so need something on my head anyway, it might as well be a helmet and it doesn't bother me. IMHO helmet no problem, but it must have a secondary usefulness - sun protection, visibility or whatever.
