Russian Cycling Stamps

While Googling for Russian cycling info, I came across this page of Russian (Soviet) cycling stamps. Nice art work.

Call me a communist but I've always found Russian art interesting. I especially like posters from the Revolution era.

For a really rough guide the pre-WWII Soviet art is called Soviet Avont Guard. Stallin never liked this. Post WWII was called Soviet Realism, (realism my foot!) which lasted until the mid 1980's, when other forms of art were officialy recognized.

Thanks Suntrender:

I'm a cyclist and stamp collector! (Mainly U.S. stamps) But, I take cycling stamps, with event numbers and photos of the event, place them in nicely matted format with nice frames. Great for the "Cycling Room"!

Wow, me too. If you want, we can scan a couple of our more interesting designs and post them in another thread.
