Both instinctually and logically you realize that sooner or later your bicycle will in up "in the shop". Maybe it has already happen. There is no joy for a cyclist... when they don't have a bicycle.
Having a "spare", "wet weather" or extra bicycle assures a cyclist that they can always get a ride in. Acquiring a bicycle work stand, repair manual, and few bicycle specific tools will also allow you to learn to do regular maintenance on your extra bike. It's all good.

My current one is a Cannondale Synapse Aluminum with Sora components. What do you think ? The Cannondale dealers in my area are not my favorite. I have a great Giant/Specialized dealer nearby that does all my work. Are those brands that much different when riding the same style?

Oooh! Where are the moderators when we need one? And to think that I got edited for using an alternate word for "saltine" to describe a tool for removing a cassette lockring.

I had my bicycle in the shop for an adjustment (and a new cable) the other day.... and was looking at sale prices. And was thinking.... if I sold off a couple of my bikes I could buy a really decent [albeit low-end] new bicycle.
I tend to actually worry more about my vintage steel bikes more than my aluminum daily rider. So I never have a rain-bike. I've been looking for a good vintage aluminum... like a well kept Cannondale 3 series. But so far with no luck.
So today I am riding by a Trek store.......... and [long story shortened]..... the Alpha 1.1 fits my old body like a glove! I would not call the 1 series an upgrade from my Fuji newest 3. But my old Fuji has the sora brifters with the thumb lever.... whereas the new brifters are all paddles.
But mainly... I just really like how I just wrapped around the bike.... without ANY fitting or adjustments. Just... heck the seat doesn't look too far off.. maybe a little low. And off I went.... and it felt perfect (well... the seat was a little low). I am not crazy about the white color. It's white with black and some red trim. And my Fuji is black with red and some white trim. I wonder if the white would/will grow on me.
Any comments, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated
