not to your question
but to your arrogant and ignorant
reaction to answers

that's very helpful; hope to see you on the bikepath soon

Yes, but don't bother asking me for the time of day.

I'm still working on getting 20 to equal 30. maybe it's "new math".

I find it quite interesting that the original question goes unanswered, yet the personal attacks are prevalent. doesn't anyone have the intestinal fortitude to say "I don't know" anymore. I even tried to word the question in 'yes' or 'no' form.

so because I don't want to count bricks and go somewhere else for a civilized answer I'm arrogant AND ignorant?

someone is going to end up gagging on their own venom someday. too bad; glad I'm not that thin skinned.

You original question was answered at length to the extent that it could be answered.

Maybe you would have preferred an authoritive sounding wrong answer like "use the centerpull in front, cantis in back". And it certainly would have been easier despite being wrong (the reverse is equally wrong).

You're asking a question based on a vague memory of a 20+ year article whose author you're equally unsure of. Either locate the original sourse and reread the full article so you know what the issue is, or accept that you have a bug up your --- over nothing and move on.

You've entered into a community asking for help, but complain about the nature of the help offered. IMO it's analogous to knocking on a stranger's door asking for help, and getting invited to join the family for dinner. Then you criticize the hostess's cooking, and wonder why you're shown the door?

I speak only for myself here, asking that you don't slam the door on the way out.

since we don't know the author and we don't know what he said, it seems less than useful to keep this thread open due to the nasty tone it has taken.

There has been evolution in brakes since the mid-'90s, and even in the last year. It would pay to find a credible recent source
