Shipping Tires
I wasn't sure where to ask this but I need to ship some tires. Do you guys know where to buy that thick white plastic that most companies ship tires in? Usually when I order from Amazon the tires show up in a white bag.

No. ... Try the Phone Book..
... I roll them down * into 3rds then they dont take up so much room, put it in a flat rate USPS box. I've put 700-40 skinwalls in Tyvec 11x14 envelopes .. * [same thing is done with Band Saw Blades , but tires have no sharp teeth] |
Shipping Tires

Car tires or bike tires?
Bike tires can easily be coiled to 1/3 the diameter and packed in a box for mailing. Wrapping them in film is costly and time consuming, and if you use carriers like UPS or FedEx will draw a surcharge for special handling (anything but cardboard boxes and flats). If you're shipping more than 3-4 tires, your best bet is to go to a bike shop, get an empty bicycle box and cut it down. If you still want film to wrap them in, any supplier of shipping/packaging materials stocks it in various widths. Clear is most common, but some also stock opaque white, or transparent colored film. |
I got a bundle of 12 tires shipped from Finland, they wrapped them in a spiral of paper and put the shipping label on that.
still a round circle. it was a manufacturer , so the wrapping was by a machine .. |

Folding tires can be folded (duh) and wire bead tires can be coiled into three loops and held together with zip ties or tape. Either will fit in standard tyvek shipping envelopes available for free at the USPS, FedEX, UPS, etc.. If there are more than can fit in a tyvek envelope, put them in a box.
